Why Usability Medic?
Usability evaluation companies are spouting up every day. How do you decide which ones are best at their craft and which ones offer the best value?

Start by looking at their sites. Do they practice what they preach? Did your visit to their site reward you with intuitive navigation and visual queues, compelling and informative content, speedy-loading pages?

By the way, if we didn't...TELL US. (You'll be brought back to this page when you're done.)

Next, consider the package of value offered. Too often, web site usability is discussed without considering brand image, competitive position and marketing needs. Doing so can result in overlooked revenue opportunities.

Often as well, web site usability is discussed without considering operational limits which can mean overlooked cost factors, and pressures on operations that could affect customer satisfaction.

Usability Medic, Inc. combines marketing & sales experience and operations experience with web design and usability knowledge so sites are not evaluated in a vacuum.

Some web evaluation firms charge a flat fee for all types of web sites. Usability Medic believes that is indicative of a boiler plate approach to evaluating sites.

A variety of factors effect the amount of time, depth of review and useful direction needed to evaluate your site.

Proven conventions and established usability guidelines are the basis for Usability Medic's evaluations and remedies. But every web site's audience and goals are different. And each organization's resources are different.

As such, we do NOT fit sites into a "usability mold". Each site gets unique consideration.

Usability Medic also operates on the premise that good graphic design, appropriate code, and usability all work TOGETHER to make a site successful. Each discipline is left to its own as a means to that end.

Since Usability Medic does not specialize in graphic design nor cutting edge code, graphic concepts and technology choices are only commented upon if there is a compelling usability guideline hindered by them.

So, can we provide a price quote for your site?

What Can You Expect?
A comprehensive, graphic-laden evaluation, pointing out each usability issue and supplying an actionable remedy for it. When appropriate, remedy trade-offs are also discussed. Mock ups will be used to illustrate recommendations when appropriate as well.

A game plan for moving forward with the site is also provided.

In addition to the physical evaluation you can expect the following from Usability Medic, Inc.:

  • A statement of work describing, in detail, what will be reviewed
  • A positive-toned evaluation (no finger pointing)
  • The price quote honored (no hidden costs)

Will Re-design Always Be Required?
The volume and degree of the usability concerns found during the evaluation will dictate whether or not a complete re-design is required.

Often, usability corrections can be implemented in stages and Usability Medic will provide recommendations for moving forward.
